£42 million signing Mesut Ozil has cracked the top speed of any Arsenal player at the FIFA World Cup.
Statistics compiled by FIFA, clocking a player's top sprint speed, record the former Real Madrid playmaker as quicker than any of his new teammates.
Ozil recorded 32.0 kilometres per hour, short of Costa Rica's Junior Diaz' top speed of 33.8, but enough to be Arsenal's quickest, ahead of new signing Alexis Sanchez.
1) Mesut Ozil 32.0 k/ph
2=) Alexis Sanchez 31.1 k/ph
2=) Joel Campbell 31.1 k/ph
4) Laurent Koscielny 30.3 k/ph
5) Olivier Giroud 29.8 k/ph
There is one player the Gunners had been strongly linked with signing, who would have topped the list.
Ivory Coast right-back Serge Aurier reached a top speed of 33.5 k/ph, the second fastest in the entire tournament, but looks likely to sign with PSG with Arsenal's attentions focused on Mathieu Debuchy.
The results should also be quantified, to add that England duo Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain did not feature at the World Cup through injury, with both strong contenders to feature the list, and in the former's case, to have finished above Ozil.
