Report: Roma close to stealing Iturbe from Juventus

Roma may have snatched Verona star Juan Iturbe from under the nose of Juventus in what would be a massive transfer coup.

Juventus seemed to have Juan Iturbe's signature secured, but on a tumultuous day for the Bianconeri he looks like he may slip away.

The Italian champions are still reeling from the loss of their coach Antonio Conte and they may also be about to lose a key transfer target.

Argentine ace Iturbe had all but agreed a move to Turin and looked set to complete the switch within the next 24 hours, but La Gazzetta dello Sport believes that Roma have pounced.

Iturbe was pictured in Rome by website Rete Sport and has posted a cryptic tweet hinting that he may have been there for business.

"Today will be a very beautiful day. Happy. Can't wait," Iturbe tweeted, leaving the Italian media to speculate that he could have agreed to join Roma.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that Roma may have topped Juventus' bid by offering £22.6 million plus young defender Alessio Romagnoli on loan.

Juventus had bid just under £20 million and their up-and-coming defensive star Frederik Sorensen.

This would represent a massive blow to Juventus if, as predicted by many, they saw Iturbe as a replacement for Arturo Vidal, who could be on his way to Manchester United.
