The global reach of Manchester United fans meant that Juan Mata could not escape unnoticed, even in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
He uploaded a photo on his Facebook page yesterday from his holiday in the Maldives, posing for a photo with five thrilled supporters.
As his break came to an end, he also had a key message for fans of the Red Devils.
He also posted on his page: "About to finish my holidays and after being 'off' for some weeks, i can't wait to start the new season! Regards to all!"
Mata has been on a slightly extended break than the first team stars already back in training thanks to his involvement in the World Cup group stages with Spain, where he scored one goal in his only appearance.
After ending the season with six goals in six games for United he is a player full of confidence, and is clearly excited to get back to work under new manager Louis van Gaal.
Mata is expected to join up with the squad over the next couple of days, and while United will officially declare their squad for the US tour on the 18th, the club have already confirmed he will be flying out.
It is crucial he gets time to adjust to van Gaal's plans, and he appears refreshed and ready to learn, which can only be good news for the supporters who idolise him.
