Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor has sent a message to his fans following the news that he has contracted malaria.
The BBC reported at the start of the week that the Togo frontman had been admitted to hospital with what was being called a "mild bout" of the disease.
Following the news, it was revealed that Adebayor would miss Tottenham's pre-season trip to North America; a huge blow for both club and player as new manager Mauricio Pochettino looks to prepare for what will be a vital first season in charge at White Hart Lane.
But now Adebayor has posted a message on his official Instagram account, thanking all the well-wishers and hinting that he could be back sooner rather than later.
Alongside a picture of the striker in his Spurs kit was a message that read, "Hey guys, thanks for all your good wishes. Getting better now and looking forward to going back to training soon and preparing for the new season."
Having shone under former manager Tim Sherwood, Adebayor will no doubt be hoping to have an even better campaign under Pochettino. But for now his focus will solely be on getting better.
