The World Cup is over, the pre-season games are underway and the transfer market is gathering pace.
There are plenty of rumours and good stories flying around at the moment with Chelsea officially confirming a deal for Diego Costa while Lazar Markovic gets ready to play his football for Liverpool next season.
We’ve taken a look at the stories making the headlines on this day last year.
‘Mourinho dismisses the Europa League’
Jose Mourinho dismissed Chelsea’s success in winning the Europa League under Rafa Benitez.
The Portuguese coach said it wasn’t his aim for the Blues and was a title that he didn’t want to win.
“I don't want to win the Europa League. It would be a big disappointment for me. I don't want my players to feel the Europa League is our competition,” he told BBC Sport.
‘Moyes to sell eight players’
The Metro claimed that new Manchester United manager David Moyes was ready to sell eight players.
The theory was to create extra funds that he would be able to reinvest into the team ahead of the new campaign.
United were extremely quiet in the transfer market last summer, signing Marouane Fellaini on the final day of the window.
‘Walcott relaxed over Arsenal position’
Theo Walcott revealed he was relaxed over the prospect of being seriously challenged for his place at the club.
The winger and forward fought for a new deal at the Gunners and was faced with the prospect of having to compete with Luis Suarez and Gonzalo Higuain ahead of last season.
“Time will tell if players come in or not but we just work with the squad we've got at the moment. Come the start of the season, there could be changes,” he told Arsenal’s website.
