No silverware - United fans pessimistic ahead of van Gaal's first season

Manchester United fans have voted on what they think the club will achieve in the coming season?

Manchester United fans have voted on where they think the club will finish in Louis van Gaal’s first season at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal takes control of his new side this morning, with a press conference scheduled for tomorrow and he’s faced with improving the team from a seventh placed finish last season.

Goal.com ran a poll asking fans to vote on what they thought he’d achieve and at the time of writing, 45.6% suggested the best United can hope for is a top four finish and Champions League football next season.

The top four is an absolute must for United considering their commercial contracts all over the world, as the sponsors may not be happy with two seasons in a row outside Europe’s biggest competition.

A Premier League title was voted for by 15% that took part with 14.8% believing that Europa League qualification is the best United fans can hope for as the Dutchman steps in for David Moyes.

Arguably United’s best chance of silverware in the coming season is an FA Cup or a League Cup, but only 5.8% of fans voted that as a possibility for the coming campaign.
