Reported Liverpool target Divock Origi will be playing in France next season claims current boss

Reported Liverpool target Divock Origi will be playing in Ligue 1 again next year according to his current boss.

Lille manager Rene Girrard have revealed that reported Liverpool target Divock Origi will remain with the French side for the upcoming campaign.

In quotes published by the Express, Girrard said, “Divock Origi will be here (at Lille) this season.”

The young Belgian forward enjoyed an impressive World Cup campaign, with a number of clubs quickly linked with a possible transfer.

Liverpool were tipped to be among the favourites, and while at first glance Girrard’s comments look like ending the speculation, they may in fact suggest the Reds could be in the box-seat for the teenager.

It had previously been suggested that Brendan Rodgers would sign the player only to loan him back to the French side next season. And after his current manager’s most recent quotes, that remains a distinct possibility.

Origi may only be 19, but he showed in Brazil that he has the talent and the confidence to excel on the biggest stage.

He fits Rodgers’ transfer template and it is likely that his price will soar in the years to come. But at the same time, he is of an age when regular first-team football could be hard to come by at Anfield; something that will not be a problem at his current side.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool will follow up the signings of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic with a move for Origi. But for once, a manager’s comments have not ruled out the possibility of a deal being struck, only of a move being made this summer.
