Former United star expects success if Madrid land Kroos: ‘They will win the league’

Real Madrid are thought to be on the verge of signing Toni Kroos, which ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand thinks is a great move for the Spanish club.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes Real Madrid will be highly successful next season should they complete a deal for Toni Kroos this summer.

Kroos confirmed to reporters after Germany’s World Cup triumph over Argentina on Sunday that he would be joining the Spanish giants, but no deal has yet been confirmed by Madrid.

Kroos is one of several big names being linked with a move to the Bernabéu, along with Monaco and Colombia duo Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez.

But ex-United star Rio Ferdinand believes Madrid will gain success by adding Kroos alone to their Champions League winning squad.

“If Toni Kroos signs for Real Madrid they will win the league again & minimum semi’s in the Champions League,” Ferdinand tweeted on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old, who is expected to sign a deal with newly promoted Queen’s Park Rangers this week, also seemed to be relishing the midfield partnership of Kroos and current star Luka Modric.

“Him alongside Modric though. #BallLenders.” Ferdinand added.

Kroos, should he arrive, will join a wealth of talent at Real that will see them as favourites to reclaim the La Liga title from Atletico in the coming season.

The German could join a midfield that boasts the likes of Angel Di Maria, Isco, Xabi Alonso as well as Modric himself. But Kroos does not look as though he will be linking up with international team-mate Sami Khedira, as the 27-year-old looks Arsenal bound following a reported agreement for his sale.
