Chelsea reserve Patrick van Aanholt defiant over future: I'm done!

Stamford Bridge

A Blues prospect has been talking up a future away from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea left back Patrick van Aanholt, 23, joined the Stamford Bridge roster as a youth in 2007 but in seven years has mostly experienced loan spells away from the club.

For the last two years he has competed for Vitesse Arnham and established himself as a defensive mainstay in the first-team selection.

Chelsea's arrangement with Vitesse over van Aanholt has come to and end, though, and as of yet it is unclear where the player's future will be.

“Where will I play next season? I don’t know yet,” he fired, as per Voetbal International. “It definitely won’t be at Chelsea. I am done here.”

van Aanholt has 12 months left on his current Blues deal.

Manager Jose Mourinho is currently light on left back options, after Ashley Cole recently left the club in order to pursue a swansong with AS Roma.

A two-time Dutch international, van Aanholt may not have envisaged breaking into the senior squad at Cobham due to the prospective transfer of Atletico Madrid star Filipe Luis, who will reportedly soon join former Vicente Calderon team-mate Diego Costa in West London.
