Tottenham Hotspur transfer news: Stones emerges as Vertonghen alternative as Barca circle for Belgian

Jan Vertonghen

A round up of transfer stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham are one of three clubs reportedly chasing John Stones of Everton.

The young defender has been mentioned in an England bracket and can play on the right side of defence or in the centre.

The Metro points to the Express in suggesting Stones is a potential alternative to Jan Vertonghen.

Vertonghen’s agent has refused to rule out a move away from the club this summer.

Barcelona are thought to be considering a move for him although no offers have yet been made.

“Several teams are interested in Jan. I cannot confirm or deny whether Barcelona are one of them. Tottenham is not a small club. It’s too soon to give them an answer. Several clubs have registered their interest in Jan. We’ll see,” Mustapha Nakhli told Het Nieuwsblad.

The Daily Star has claimed that the club have accepted an offer from Crystal Palace for Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The midfielder has found playing in his best position difficult with Spurs and an £8 million fee is thought to have been agreed.

However, several reports suggest the player is unwilling to leave Tottenham in a deal this summer.
