Aston Villa

We bring you the latest news from Aston Villa, Leicester City, Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

1) Ron Vlaar linked with Roma

Aston Villa centre back Ron Vlaar has been linked with a move to Roma, by TalkSPORT.

Vlaar has just returned from having a sensational World Cup with Holland, where he was a rock at the heart of their defence, impressing against the world’s very best strikers and, as a result, the Serie A giants have been alerted to his availability.

The experienced centre-back has only one year remaining on his deal at Villa Park, leaving the club with little choice but to accept an offer for decent money or risk him losing him of a free.

It is thought that the 29-year-old could be available for £5 million.

2) Leicester City look towards Guy Demel

Leicester City are hoping to add to their squad by signing West Ham United defender Guy Demel.

Demel has a vast amount of Premier League experience and it is thought that this is the reason that Nigel Pearson has identified him as a potential target, as Leicester look to prove they can compete at the top level after promotion last season.

Demel is thought to be available on a free transfer this summer, with West Ham happy to allow him to leave, but the Foxes could face competition from Hamburg for the Ivory Coast international.

3) Mame Biram Diouf welcomes Stoke competition

New Stoke City striker Mame Biram Diouf would be delighted if they club were able to sign Bojan, despite the increased competition it would bring.

Bojan has emerged as a surprise target for Mark Hughes’s side, with a season-long-loan from Barcelona proposed, and Diouf would love to link up with somebody as talented as the 23-year-old.

He said: "He is a very good player."

"It would be great because we need as many players as we can. The season is long and anything can happen, so we need more players if we can."

"If we can get him in and helping us, it would be more than welcome."

4) West Bromwich Albion beaten to Emmanuel Riviere

Newcastle United have beaten West Bromwich Albion to the signing of Emmanuel Riviere, according to reports.

Alan Irvine had wanted to bring the Monaco forward to the Hawthorns this summer, but has found his efforts to prove fruitless, with Riviere preferring a move to Tyneside.

The 24-year-old had been identified as a major target by the Baggies this summer, but is expected to complete a move to Newcastle tomorrow.

It means that WBA will have to switch their attention to other transfer targets, with Saido Berahino and Victor Anichebe the only senior strikers in the squad at the moment.

5) Wolverhampton Wanderers want Nathan Delfouneso.

Wolverhampton Wanderers could make a move for former Aston Villa man Nathan Delfouneso, according to reports in the Birmingham Mail.

Delfouneso was once regarded as a hot prospect at Villa Park, but has seen his career rather stagnate in recent times.

The striker is now available on a free transfer after a series of unsuccessful loan spells led to Villa releasing the 23-year-old.

And he could be of interest to Kenny Jackett, who is known to be chasing a striker to add to his squad, as Wolves look to make an immediate impact in the Championship after achieving promotion from League One last season.
