Liverpool Latest: Benfica confirm Markovic deal, Rodgers to move on Lacazette

A round up of news stories and transfer rumours about Liverpool from the past 24 hours.

Lazar Markovic revealed on his Facebook page that he will be playing for Benfica next season. The 20-year-old joins in a £20 million deal, with the Portuguese side confirming the deal with a statement revealing they will receive around £10 million for their 50% share in the player.

The Mirror claims Liverpool feel they can get a deal for Alberto Moreno sewn up for less than the £20 million Sevilla are thought to be holding out for. A £14 million fee has been mentioned by the national daily newspaper, as Brendan Rodgers hunts for a left-back ahead of the new Premier League season.

Liverpool transfer target Xherdan Shaqiri is being tipped to reject a move away from Bayern Munich, staying at the Bundesliga champions. The Swiss has been linked with a £15-20 million move to Anfield, but the Daily Star has suggested that he will continue playing for Pep Guardiola in the coming season.

Suso has revealed that he’s looking to remain a Liverpool player for years after speculation he could leave the club this summer after a season on loan with Almeria in Spain.

“I want to be here for a lot of years because I like everything here - the city, the country, the language, everything. It’s really good to be here; I’m really happy, it’s like a dream,” he’s quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

Luis Suarez has been pictured in Barcelona ahead of completing his £75 million move to the La Liga giants. The club recently announced an agreement with the Catalan side, which sees Suarez leave after that bite on Giorgio Chiellini while playing for Uruguay against Italy at the World Cup in Brazil.

Former Reds defender Jamie Carragher has suggested Liverpool face a near impossible task in trying to replace Suarez.

“It will obviously be very difficult to replace Suarez - I'm sure Brendan will be looking to sign a top-class forward now, but we're talking about replacing one of the best players in world football,” he told the Echo.

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has suggested the transfers of Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert as good buys for his former employers.

“They were fantastic for Southampton last year and are proven in the Premier League – there are going to be four competitions to be playing in and lots of games,” Owen told the Liverpool website.

Turkish side Trabzonspor are being linked with a move for Liverpool centre-back Kolo Toure. Toure is contracted to the Reds until the end of the coming season but is likely to be behind Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho and Daniel Agger in the pecking order at Anfield.
