People are spending out a small fortune on the Kim Kardashian: Hollywood game

While Kim Kardashian’s inauspicious game for iPad and iPhone, “Hollywood” is free to download you’ll soon realise that fame has a price. As Jezebel writer Tracie Egan Morrissey can vouch for after spending almost $500 on the game

Morrissey isn’t the only one getting deeply financially invested in the game. According to Bloomberg News since its launch in June Kim Kardashian: Hollywood has reached the second most downloaded game on Apple’s US app store and is currently the third most downloaded game

Purchases made in the game have driven the share price of the game’s creator Glu Mobile Inc up by 42% with one analyst estimating the game is poised to take a staggering $200 million this year.

“There’s no such thing as bad publicity, right?” Douglas Creutz, an analyst with Cowen & Co. said to Bloomberg . “Obviously, Kim Kardashian’s brand has driven people to download the game. But at this point, the game has taken on a life of its own.”

Although it’s unclear how much Kim Kardashian stands to make from her gaming venture she has been reported as saying, I'm so excited that people are enjoying the game."
