For several weeks, Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United.
And now the Chile international himself has confirmed that he has the opportunity to join the Red Devils.
‘I am already at a great team like Juventus’, the 27-year-old told Chilevision, according to Goal.com. ‘That's why it will not be a problem if the option of Manchester United falls through... I just want to enjoy my holiday here in Chile with the people I love. We will see what happens when I get back to Italy’.
Vidal had earlier made similar remarks about his future and deciding it after his return to Italy following his holiday. This time he has gone a step further and confirmed that he has the ‘option’ to play for United.
However, it should be noted that Vidal has made it clear that he is not going to force a move if Juventus do not want to sell him, claiming that he is already at a ‘great’ club.
It appears that the former Bayer Leverkusen star is happy playing for Juventus but is ready to move to United if the opportunity arises. However, he is not so determined to play for Louis van Gaal’s side that he will put in a transfer request at Juventus.
This means that it is now between the clubs to decide what to do next. Understandably, Juve will be reluctant to sell one of their key players in their three successive Scudetti triumph, but they could be open to business if they get a big transfer fee.
As things stand, it appears that it is the Manchester outfit who need step up their game. If Vidal is happy to carry on at Juve and the Bianconeri are not satisfied with what they are being offered, then United could well lose out on one of the best players in the world who is open to joining them.
