Liverpool transfer news, Markovic deal completed today, more players set to follow

A selection of the latest stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Tuesday morning.

Liverpool are set to announce the signing of Serbian winger Lazar Markovic from Benfica today on a £20 million deal.

A picture of Markovic apparently being interviewed by the club's media appeared on social media last night, suggesting that an official announcement is imminent. Markovic will become the club's fourth signing of the summer - joining Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can at the club.

One of those signings in Lambert reported for pre-season training a week early after cutting short his holiday. He is only likely to feature when the Reds fly out on their U.S. tour, and is likely to face Roma in Boston on July 23.

The Liverpool Echo is reporting that young defenders Andre Wisdom and Brad Smith are attracting interest from clubs for loan deals. Wisdom has been linked with a move to West Bromwich Albion, whilst Smith has reportedly attracted the interests of Swindon Town.

They wouldn't be the first players to leave the club on loan this summer. Luis Alberto is on loan at Malaga whilst Iago Aspas's loan move to Sevilla was confirmed yesterday evening

The Echo has also reported that Xherdhan Shaqiri will not be leaving Bayern Munich after being a target for the Reds for much of the summer.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that as many as five more players could be arriving at Anfield 'in the coming days'.

Talks have reportedly continued with Sevilla over left-back Alberto Moreno after it appeared Liverpool were unwilling to meet the Europa League winners' £20 million valuation, but the Mirror is claiming that manager Brendan Rodgers will also target Ben Davies from Swansea City, and wants to bring both players in.

Lille striker Divock Origi has been in talks over a potential move to Merseyside - though it looks as though he will be loaned back to the Ligue 1 club - whilst Wilfried Bony from Swansea City has been strongly linked.

Other names that appear in the Mirror's report are QPR's Loic Remy and Southampton's Jay Rodriguez.
