We’ve got a couple of days left to relax until the Main Event of TI14 kicks off, so how’s it going to work and who is matched with who?
With the playoff phases at the Dota 2 TI14 over and done with, it’s now time to look forward to the Main Event which begins this Friday 18th July at the KeyArena Seattle. Eight teams will battle it out for the Aegis of Champions – the bronze and silver shield-shaped trophy of the tournament – along with a grand prize of $4,957,033. Each of the teams that places eighth or above is going home with around $500,000 at the very least too, not bad eh.
OK so how’s it all going to happen? Friday will see the first round of matches played by the Upper Bracket teams – ViCi vs NewBee and Evil Geniuses vs Team DK. The matches are all best-of-three and double elimination, which means the teams that lose will fall into the Lower Bracket on Saturday and have a second chance at victory. The Lower Bracket matches are currently set as Cloud9 vs Na’Vi and iG vs LGD – the winners of these matches will then go on to duke it out with the losers from the Upper Bracket.
The teams in the final will be the winner of the Upper Bracket and Lower Bracket, and they’ll match up on Monday 21st July in a best-of-five match. We'll know one of the teams in the final by the end of Friday's rounds too - who do you think it will be?
