Arsenal's Theo Walcott 'cannot wait' to link up with Alexis Sanchez

Walcott says there is a 'great buzz' around the club this summer.

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott is looking forward to forming a dynamic partnership with new signing Alexis Sanchez, and he believes there could be more big name players on their way to the Emirates this summer.

Sanchez joined from Barcelona for a fee in the region of £30 million, one year after Arsenal's record signing, Mesut Özil, joined from Real Madrid.

Walcott insists he will benefit from playing with world class players, and is relishing the challenge next season will bring.

“There’s a great buzz around the club at the moment,” Walcott told Arsenal Player.

"[Sanchez] is a marquee signing and something that the club has pushed on to – first you had Mesut Özil and now it is Alexis Sanchez. Who knows where it is going to stop?

“It is great to learn from these players, and I cannot wait to play alongside him. I am really looking forward to it.”

Many players would be threatened by the arrival of such a big name as Sanchez at the club. Walcott, however, believes he can play with the Chilean and strike fear into Premier League defences.

"Sánchez is a world-class player and I enjoyed watching him play for Barcelona and for Chile at the World Cup," Walcott said.

"He’s still very young as well and he is going to show so much pace and power, which we lacked a bit last year.

With me and him on the flanks, a lot of teams won’t be looking forward to playing Arsenal this year.”

Arsenal have an abundance of talent on the wings heading into next year. Along with Walcott and Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lukas Podolski, Santi Cazorla and Serge Gnabry will be battling for a starting spot on the flanks.

For that reason, Sanchez could find himself deployed as a centre-forward next season. It is a position he has filled at times for both club and country, and with his pace and prowess in front of goal he has the tools to thrive up-front in the Premier League.
