The pair played alongside each other at Fulham before Senderos left for Valencia on loan last season, with both now having left Craven Cottage on a permanent deal.
“Phil was at Fulham with me and he is a top pro,” he is quoted as saying by the Birmingham Mail.
“He’s a good centre-half and I’m sure he’ll give 100 per cent.
"He’s played for Arsenal, Milan, Everton. His resumé is very good and a player like that doesn’t play for those clubs for no reason.
"He’s a top, top guy, he’s very good in the dressing room. He’s a leader and he does talk a lot, which is good."
Harry Redknapp's side all reported for training, except those involved with the World Cup in Brazil.
The Rs will head to Germany - the land of the new world champions - for a training camp next Monday, while seven pre-season friendlies are scheduled to be played over the next few weeks.
In other QPR news, the west London side have been linked with a move for Netherlands and Norwich City midfielder Leroy Fer.
According to reports, Redknapp is prepared to pay £6 million for Fer.
Elsewhere, QPR man Joey Barton has had his say on the World Cup Golden Ball, ridiculing the choice of Lionel Messi as the tournament's best player.
