Chelsea's Eden Hazard was among the first to offer his congratulations to Andre Schurrle via Twitter, while the German was still on the pitch celebrating.
Schurrle provided the game-winning assist in the 1-0 win, setting up a memorable goal for Mario Gotze, with his cross inch perfect.
Blues star Eden Hazard sent him a message of congratulations at lifting the trophy, the peak of any footballer's career.
Congratulation my man @Andre_Schuerrle ... See you soon.— Eden hazard (@hazardeden10) July 13, 2014
Schurrle spent most of last season competing for a spot in Jose Mourinho's side against Hazard, but as the message clearly shows, there is much camaraderie between them that Hazard can't wait to see his teammate.
Hazard himself has only recently returned from Germany, suffering a quarter-final defeat with Belgium.
His tournament saw him billed as Belgium's great hope, only to see him wilt under the pressure of expectation and fail to shine individually.
Schurrle was glossed over among Germany's other superstars, but it may just be that they would not have won the World Cup without his key input.
