Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season training is in full swing, and one of the players who is enjoying it is Erik Lamela.
The Argentina international winger joined the North London outfit from Roma last summer for an initial transfer fee of £25.8 million, with up to £4.2m in add-ons, but was branded as a ‘flop’ by many.
The 22-year-old’s debut season in the Premier League was cut short by a back injury, but even when he was fit, he could only make just three starts in the league.

Having now recovered, Lamela will be keen to prove himself to the Spurs fans. There had been some suggestions that the former River Plate star could be sold, but it is now clear that Tottenham are determined to help the winger regain his confidence and establish himself in English football.
Lamela’s teammates will be important in helping the former Roma winger recover his form and exhibit the quality that is so keenly remembered by Serie A followers. And it seems that he has a good bond with the other Tottenham players, as shown by the following photo after Monday’s training session.
There is no doubt that Lamela is a talented player, and he is certainly going to be wiser about the Premier League after 2013-14. Under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, there is every chance that the youngster will show the Tottenham fans that he is indeed worth £30m.
