Jermain Defoe played a huge role in Toronto FC's 4-2 victory over Houston on Saturday. The former Tottenham Hotspur man saw his new side go 2-0 down in the first half, before he set up goals for teammates Jonathan Osorio and Dominic Oduro to level the scores.
The England international then netted two of his own to ensure the victory, and add to his already impressive goal-tally.
Since moving from Spurs Defoe has netted 10 goals in just 12 matches, a record which highlights just what a prolific finisher he remains.
Some questioned why he did not stay in the Premier League, given his natural goal-scoring ability and the fact that he is still only 31. But in seeking a fresh challenge, Defoe has also given Toronto an emphatic finisher who could set records aplenty before he does finally call time on his career.
