Robert Kubica has won Rally del Casentino in Italy, taking 10 of the 12 stages aboard a Ford Fiesta RS.
Kubica has faced a challenging maiden campaign in the WRC this season. Having won last year’s WRC2 title, the former grand prix racer joined M-Sport for 2014. However he has suffered several crashes and recorded only two points-paying finishes, leaving him 12th in the world championship standings.
Tackling the national-level rally with the A-Style team, Kubica beat the Citroen DS3 of Felice Re by more than two and a half minutes.
The Pole entered the event to gain further experience of asphalt stages, with the upcoming French, German and Catalunyan events all being run on the surface. The win represents his first in a World Rally Car-spec car.
Kubica's next WRC outing comes at Rally Finland. The gravel event takes place from August 1 through 3.
