Germany will take on Argentina tonight in the final of the 2014 World Cup at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro.
It will be a fully packed stadium with fans having bought tickets in advance, but there is one lucky person who has been given a ticket just hours before the contest.
And that lucky person is Brazil international defender Andre Santos, who has thanked his former Arsenal teammate Lukas Podolski for the ‘gift’.
Santos was on the books of Arsenal between 2011 and 2013, but the 31-year-old, who can play both as a left-back and as a left-winger, did not make a big impact at the Emirates Stadium.
Now playing for Flamengo in his homeland, Santos has featured 24 times for Brazil but was not included in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s 23-man World Cup squad.
Podolski has been at Arsenal since 2012 and is now on the verge of winning the World Cup with Germany.
The 29-year-old forward is not expected to start for Die Mannschaft tonight, but he could come on as a substitute and make a huge contribution to his side.
