Reported Manchester United target Arturo Vidal has been speaking about the speculation surrounding his future.
The Juventus midfielder has been outstanding in Serie A and followed up his club performances with some excellent showings for Chile at the World Cup.
New United manager Louis van Gaal has previously revealed his admiration for the 27-year-old, and the stories linking the midfielder with a switch to Old Trafford just keep coming.
Now Vidal has been speaking to Chilean website Latercera.com, and he has not exactly poured cold water on the claims.
“I have heard the rumours,” he is quoted as saying, “but I will not speak about it anymore. I’m enjoying the holidays and when I return to Italy I’ll see what happens.
“I am very calm. We would all like to play for one of the best teams in the world.”
Whether Vidal sees United as one such club remains to be seen. After all, Juventus have impressed in recent times and van Gaal may have to go some to persuade the best of the best to take a year away from the Champions League as he looks to take the club back to the top.
Vidal certainly fits into that category. And it seems while the rumours persist, United fans can get quietly excited about the prospect – however small – of one of the very best midfielders in the game joining one of the very best managers at Old Trafford.
