Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the transfer market for a striker and have been linked with a number of players.
The Belgium international has been out on loan for the past two seasons, and there are reports that the Blues are open to selling the 21-year-old. Everton, who signed Lukaku on loan last season, are also said to be interested, but now Wolfsburg have joined the race, according to The Telegraph.
It has been reported that the German club are considering making a move for the former Anderlecht striker after missing out on Mario Mandzukic, who has left Bayern Munich for Atletico Madrid. Chelsea reportedly want £25 million for Lukaku, but they are willing to accept less than that from a foreign club.
Meanwhile, Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov has revealed that he wants to sign Jonathan Obika on loan for the 2014-15 season. The 23-year-old Spurs striker is unlikely to be part of new manager Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the upcoming campaign.
‘Jonathan’s a player I’ve admired for a long time’, the Doncaster Free Press quotes the League One club’s boss as saying. ‘I’ve watched him since he was 16-year-old at Tottenham and he’s a player I know a lot about. There have been preliminary discussions, but that’s about as far as it’s gone at the moment’.
Tottenham will fly to the USA to continue their pre-season preparations and will play friendly matches against the Seattle Sounders, Toronto FC and Chicago Fire. Goalkeeper Jordan Archer believes that these games will be competitive.
‘They’ve been playing for a while now so they’ll be up to speed’, the 21-year-old told the club’s official website. ‘We’re obviously in pre-season but they’ll be firing and ready to go at us. The football is always improving over there so you know it will be good for us to play against those three teams’.
