All the latest summer transfer news from Serie A...
AC Milan have already added Jeremy Menez to their front line this summer, and with more attacking players believed to be on the way, Stephan El Shaarawy could find himself out of favour under new boss Pippo Inzaghi. The 21-year-old endured an injury hit season, which has seriously damaged his reputation in Italy - leading to speculation of a move away from the San Siro.
Real Madrid have been linked with a shock €16m move to take the youngster known as Il Faraone - "the pharaoh", for his Egyptian roots - to Spain. It's surprising given how El Shaarawy struggled last season, but with Angel di Maria potentially leaving the club this summer, they will need to bring in a replacement whilst keeping enough money aside to sign James Rodriguez from Monaco.
One deal that went through on Friday was the transfer of Roma left back Dodo to Inter Milan. With Ashley Cole and Urby Emanuelson both in at the Stadio Olimpico, Dodo's days were numbered, leading to his move to Walter Mazzarri's side - and the Brazilian youngster says the Inter boss was a huge factor in his move.
"It’s a wonderful environment and we just need to focus on work," said Dodo. "I have good sensations already. A player can always improve, so my idea is to learn and keep on getting stronger. My best characteristic is pushing forward."
"Mazzarri was a very big influence on my decision to join Inter. I spoke to him before coming here and I had no doubts listening to his plans. Playing in the Champions League is everyone’s objective, but I won’t miss seeing Roma there without me, as I want to play in it with Inter next season."
Elsewhere, Udinese goalkeeper Simone Scuffet, 18, had an incredible season in Serie A, which led to the predictably comparisons to Gianluigi Buffon. It seems that Atletico Madrid are willing to bank on him reaching that potential by signing him as a long-term replacement for the departed Thibaut Courtois, who has returned to Chelsea at the end of his three-year loan deal.
Scuffet is expected to be loaned to Granada or Getafe for some time - potentially as long as Courtois was with Atleti - in a bid to keep him developing away from Diego Simeone's side whilst still retaining his contract.
