Arsenal and Tottenham won't be signing French defender Adil Rami because AC Milan have snapped him up despite a few late hiccups.
Rami was at Milan on loan from January and impressed the Rossoneri faithful with his reliable defending during a difficult campaign.
As part of the loan agreement, Milan were given the right to negotiate a permanent switch, but a lack of ready cash made that tough.
There had been suggestions that Arsenal or Tottenham may step in to snatch Rami away, but Milan were always in pole position.
A deal seemed to be done on Thursday but Valencia changed the terms of payment, demanding a lump sum which the Italians had been keen to avoid.
"AC Milan would like to communicate the permanent signature of Adil Rami from Valencia," a statement from Milan reads.
"Rami has signed a contract until June 2017."
