Milan complete signing of Rami

AC Milan changing room

Despite a last-minute wobble, AC Milan have officially announced that they have signed defender Adil Rami from Valencia.

Arsenal and Tottenham won't be signing French defender Adil Rami because AC Milan have snapped him up despite a few late hiccups.

Rami was at Milan on loan from January and impressed the Rossoneri faithful with his reliable defending during a difficult campaign.

As part of the loan agreement, Milan were given the right to negotiate a permanent switch, but a lack of ready cash made that tough.

There had been suggestions that Arsenal or Tottenham may step in to snatch Rami away, but Milan were always in pole position.

A deal seemed to be done on Thursday but Valencia changed the terms of payment, demanding a lump sum which the Italians had been keen to avoid.

Nonetheless it appears the stumbling block was overcome and Rami is now a Milan player.

"AC Milan would like to communicate the permanent signature of Adil Rami from Valencia," a statement from Milan reads.

"Rami has signed a contract until June 2017."
