Liverpool transfer news: Rodgers to get all £75m to spend; latest on Bony links

Welcome To Anfield

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will be allowed to invest every last penny of Luis Suarez’s £75million transfer fee into the squad if he wishes, according to a report.

The Times claims the Reds’ manager will have a substantial kitty to spend as he seeks to sign the player (or players) who can replace the prolific Uruguayan at Anfield.

It will not be easy to replace the man who played a huge part in Liverpool’s surge up the table last season. However, Rodgers has shown before that he can be smart in the transfer market…and he may now need to be cannier than ever.

In other news, the South Wales Evening Post claims Swansea City are facing a battle to keep Wilfried Bony amid alleged interest from Liverpool.

The Ivory Coast front-man has been tipped in some quarters to replace Suarez, and the report includes quotes from Swans chairman Hew Jenkins in which he said that he did not think “a club like Liverpool” would negotiate with a player from another club without first getting his current side’s permission.

The paper hints that this quote could suggest that the Reds are indeed interested in Bony and could move for him in due course.
