The worrying trend Southampton's Dusan Tadic must change to be a success

FC Twente

Southampton's new signing Dusan Tadic must change the concerning trend of FC Twente stars struggling in the Premier League to be a success with the Saints.

Southampton have secured the signing of exciting play-maker Dusan Tadic in an estimated £10.9 million switch from Eredivisie side FC Twente, and the Serbian winger will hope to avoid the same fate as previous Premier League imports from the Dutch side.

Bryan Ruiz and Nacer Chadli have both made the move from Twente to the Premier League with Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur respectively in the last three years, but neither has managed to emulate the form they showed in Holland.

Leroy Fer is another who made the switch, as he joined Norwich City from the Dutch outfit last summer but he was able to perform to a better standard as he was not the man responsible for supplying goals.

Fer plays deeper in midfield than Tadic, Ruiz or Chadli and as a result was able to enjoy his football without too much pressure on scoring or creating goals, which has seen the likes of Ruiz and Chadli struggle.

Ruiz came to Fulham on the back of an incredible season in the Eredivisie as he scored 24 goals to be named as the top-scorer, but the Costa Rican midfielder has only scored eight goals in 68 appearances for Fulham.

The 28-year-old was loaned out to PSV Eindhoven for the second-half of last season and rediscovered some form ahead of the World Cup where he shone for the impressive Costa Rica.

Ruiz is not expected to stay with West London side in the Championship this season and his time with the club will have to go down as a disappointment.

Chadli filled the void left by Ruiz's departure with FC Twente and thrived before making the £7million move to Spurs last summer, but again failed to emualte the form he showed in Holland.

The 24-year-old scored 18 goals in 38 appearances for Twente the season before joining Spurs, but only managed five goals in 34 games in all competitions for the Lilywhites last term.

The Belgian improved towards the end of the season as Tim Sherwood played him in a more central role but Chadli's first season in the Premier League failed to live up to expectations, as with Bryan Ruiz.

Tadic was the man who filled in for Chadli with Twente last season, and was given more responsibility following the Belgian's departure and was excellent.

The 25-year-old scored 16 goals with 14 assists in 33 Eredivisie appearances and has been rewarded with a move to the Premier League with what is set to be a new-look Southampton side under Ronald Koeman.

Tadic will hope to make more of an impact than Ruiz and Chadli managed in their debut seasons, and the Serbian will be expected to fill the void left by Adam Lallana's departure.
