Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is reportedly attracting interest from Monaco.
With Thibaut Courtois set to return to Stamford Bridge next season, doubts have been raised over the future of the 32-year-old Czech international. And now Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims Cech could be on his way to Monaco ahead of Spanish international Victor Valdes.
The current Chelsea number one is still an outstanding ‘keeper, but the problem for Jose Mourinho is that Courtois is just as impressive, and after three years on loan at Atletico Madrid he cannot be ignored any longer.
There have been some suggestions that Courtois and Cech will both remain at Chelsea and compete for the number one spot. But the Belgian international has previously stated that he has no intention of playing second-fiddle at a club, and rightly so given his trajectory to date.
The latest report from Spain also cites Paris Saint-Germain and (rather randomly) Arsenal as other potential destinations for Cech. But with Monaco seemingly no longer interested in Valdes, a move for the Chelsea player would make sense.
The only two questions are: Would Mourinho part with him and would Cech be happy with a return to France, where he previously starred for Rennes.
