Chelsea morning news: Blues target £7m teenager as Pogba alternative, Wolfsburg interested in striker?

All the morning news, views and transfer rumours from Stamford Bridge...

Chelsea are contemplating making a bid for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot as an alternative to Paul Pogba, according to a report.

The Blues have reportedly been interested in the 21-year-old for a while, but could have to pay as much as £60 million to sign the Juventus and France international star.

However, the London club have now started looking for cheaper alternatives and are eyeing a move for 19-year-old Rabiot, according to The Express.

The teenager’s current contract with PSG runs out in June 2015 and, with a new deal yet to be agreed upon, Chelsea could swoop in and sign for the midfielder for £7m.

Another midfielder that Chelsea are reportedly planning to sign is Real Madrid star Sami Khedira. The Germany international has long been linked with a move to Arsenal, but The Express claims that the Gunners’ London rivals are now interested in him as well.

The 27-year-old’s current contract with Real Madrid runs out at the end of next season, and he has reportedly rejected the offer to sign a new deal because the wages he will receiver as per the new terms are lower than what he wants.

Blues manager Jose Mourinho worked with Khedira for three years at Madrid and is reportedly keen on reuniting with the former Stuttgart star at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, a player who could be heading out of Stamford Bridge is striker Romelu Lukaku. The Belgium international has been out on loan for the past two seasons, and there are suggestions that he could be sold this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur and Everton have already been linked with a move for the 21-year-old, and The Telegraph now claims that Wolfsburg are interested in the youngster too.

It has been reported that Wolfsburg wanted to re-sign Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich, but with the Croatian striker heading to Atletico Madrid, the German club are now considering making a bid for Lukaku.

Chelsea want £25m for the former Anderlecht youngster, but they could be prepared to accept less from a foreign club.
