Brazil player ratings v Netherlands: Hosts in dismal exit

Brazil exit the World Cup with a dismal 3-0 defeat against a strong Netherlands.

Julio Cesar 6 - Wasn’t threatened all that often, but made basic saves when he needed too. Was standing in no mans land for Daley Blind’s goal.

Maicon 5 - The shadow of the man he used to be, still manages to get forward well but just doesn’t exert anything.

David Luiz 4 - Goes from bad to worse for David Luiz. Still goes galavanting off and leaves his defence out in the cold. Very much at fault for the Netherlands second goal, instead of heading it out, he heads it straight at Blind in his box, gifting a golden opportunity that was well taken.

Thiago Silva 5 - Didn’t seem his usual self either today and was very lucky to stay on the pitch after bringing Arjen Robben down for the penalty.

Maxwell 5 - The Paris Saint Germain defender didn’t bring anything to help the Brazil defence and fouled plenty.

Paulinho 4 - Could not have touched the ball more than ten times throughout the game, just wasn’t there.

Luiz Gustavo 5 - Much like Brazil’s World Cup campaign, it started in fine fashion and then slowly dithered out.

Ramires 6 - Brought a lot more pace and energy to the midfield, but couldn’t utilise it to great effect.

Oscar 6 - A bit unlucky here today, showed good skill but just didn’t play well enough to create anything.

Willian 6 - Showed a lot more promise than previous Brazil starters but much like Oscar, couldn't create anything cut throat.

Jo 4 - Couldn’t even tell he was on the pitch, did absolutely nothing to help his team.

Fernandinho 5 - Came on at half time but made zero impact.

Hernanes - N/A

Hulk - N/A
