Jonathan Rossini has been pictured training with Leeds in Italy
Long-term Leeds United transfer target, Jonathan Rossini, is edging closer to a transfer to Elland Road, with the defender pictured training with the squad today.
Leeds are currently out in Italy for a pre-season camp and the Swiss defender has seemingly joined up with his future team-mates before official confirmation of his transfer has been announced.
He has been pictured going through fitness exercises which is an area of the game that new Leeds head coach David Hockaday has identified as one which is vitally important for his Whites side.
Upon his appointment, he said: “We will be ready for August 9. It’s a case of getting the message out that the club is about hunger, working hard and working harder than anyone else.
“The culture here will be one of hard work.
“We will be honest and have humility, but work hard with hunger with a capital H.”
The evidence is that hard-work has already begun for Rossini, but in better news for him he didn’t have to travel too far to join his new club’s tough training regime.
Rossini has played his entire career in Italy so far, and spent the back end of last season on loan at Parma from his current club Sassuolo.
The 25-year-old, who has one cap for Switzerland, is regarded as one of Leeds’ key transfers this summer and it would be quite a coup if they were able to secure his transfer.
Some of the funds needed to buy Rossini were no doubt raised from the £11 million sale of Ross McCormack to Fulham and it suggests that the Yorkshire side are looking to spend the fee on bolstering the entirety of the squad, rather than a big money striker.
Rossini will become the third Italian based player to arrive at Elland Road this summer, after Marco Silvestri and Tommaso Bianchi. Stuart Taylor has also joined this summer.
