All the morning news, views and transfer rumours from Old Trafford...

Former Liverpool midfielder Dirk Kuyt has backed Louis van Gaal to achieve success as Manchester United manager.

Van Gaal will now take charge of the Red Devils after his 2014 World Cup campaign with the Netherlands came to an end.

The Dutch lost their semi-final tie against Argentina on penalties this week and will wrap up their adventure in Brazil with a third-place playoff against Brazil on Saturday.

Kuyt, who played for Liverpool between 2006 and 2012, is part of the Netherlands team in Brazil, and believes that Van Gaal will be successful at Old Trafford.

‘There was only one thing for this coach and he just wanted to win this cup’, the Manchester Evening News quotes the 33-year-old as saying.

‘That is the type of coach he is, he just wants to win things. He is desperate to be successful and I am sure he is going to be successful in his next job’.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail has reported that Van Gaal will not take a holiday and will jump straight into the United job.

It has been reported that the 62-year-old will arrive in Manchester on Tuesday and will be unveiled next week.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach’s wife Truus has already found a house in Cheshire. United were ready to grant Van Gaal a break after his World Cup campaign, but he is keen on getting back to work.

Meanwhile, the Manchester outfit’s assistant manager Ryan Giggs has said that he is happy with the club’s pre-season preparations.

‘Everyone's excited’, the club’s official website quotes the Welshman as saying. ‘We had a disappointing season last season and everyone's keen to get us back to where we belong and that's the top.

‘Everything's been planned off Louis. Albert and Marcel (new coaching-staff members Albert Stuivenberg and Marcel Bout) know how he works so the blueprint has been prepared by Louis and we're just following his plans’.
