A selection of the latest news surrounding Tottenham Hotspur this Friday evening.

Tottenham are prepared to rival Liverpool for Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony according to the London Evening Standard.

There have been reports in the past couple of days suggesting that Liverpool will move for Bony, but the Standard understands that Bony is 'open minded' about which club he would like to join and Spurs are ready to bid £18 million for the Ivory Coast international.

One player that Spurs will not be signing according to TalkSport is Cagliari defender Davide Astori, as he seems to be on the brink of joining Lazio.

Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino is said to have been a fan of the 27-year-old, and Astori was targeted ever since the Argentine was appointed at White Hart Lane.

One man who is determined to improve on last season is Erik Lamela after a disappointing first season when he signed for a record fee from Roma.

He has since been linked with a move back to Italy but after struggling with both his form and injuries last season, the Argentine is determined to show what he can do.

He told the Tottenham website: “I feel fit and I hope it will be a good season ahead.

“I hope to show everyone what I can do, especially for the fans and of course for the club. I’m grateful to the fans for their affection, that’s very important for me.

“Hopefully I will get the chance to play and then I will try and perform as well as I can.”
