France's Karim Benzema - who has also been linked with a move to Arsenal from Real Madrid in the past - features at number two, whilst Germany's Thomas Muller and Argentina's Lionel Messi complete are third and fourth respectively.

Switzerland's Xherdan Shaqiri, who has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool, is as high as number five, though it looks as though he is on the move to last season's Serie A runners-up Roma.

Bryan Ruiz is the highest ranked player to feature from those who played in the Premier League last season at number seven, with Everton and USA goalkeeper Tim Howard ranked at 11. Howard is also second on the goalkeepers list, with Costa Rica's Keylor Navas at the top.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is ranked the highest young player after impressing for France during their run to the quarter-final stage of the competition, ahead of Netherlands forward Memphis Depay - who is rumoured to be a target of both United and Tottenham Hotspur.
