Manchester United have been strongly linked with Benfica midfielder Enzo Perez in recent times.
In desperate need of midfield reinforcements, United are said to be considering a £20million move for the 28-year-old Argentine, who is also reportedly attracting interest from Valencia.
But whatever the future holds for Perez, for now his focus is solely on one thing: the World Cup final.
After his country’s penalty shootout victory over the Netherlands on Wednesday evening, Perez and his teammates can now look forward to a meeting with Germany on Sunday. And following his performance against Louis van Gaal’s side, Perez is surely in line to start that game.
Perez may be predominantly a central midfielder, but he is also more than capable operating on the right-wing, and it was in the latter position that he shone on Wednesday.
In a tense affair in which defenders usually had the upper-hand, Perez was one of the standout attacking performers. And considering his confidence on the ball, passing range and all-round effectiveness, it would be no surprise if United really did make a move for him once the tournament is over.

As you can see from the Opta stats above, Perez had a pass accuracy of 89.4% - impressive given his position on the pitch and the importance of the game. He played one key pass, provided one accurate cross and went on three effective dribbles. He also played nine forward passes prior to his 81st-minute substitution.
But while his stats tell a story of sorts, it was his all-round play that really impressed. In short, he looked like exactly the type of player United need as they begin a new chapter under van Gaal.
For £20million, Perez would be well worth it.
