Manchester United latest: Van Gaal's first match at Old Trafford announced, Evra set to move

News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.

Louis van Gaal officially takes his post as Manchester United manager next week following the Netherlands’ exit from the World Cup semi-finals in Brazil, with his last duty the Third Placed Play-Off on Saturday night. Netherlands drew 0-0 with Argentina after extra time in the semi-final and lost 4-2 on penalties.

Louis van Gaal will take charge of his first match at Old Trafford against Spanish giants Valencia on Tuesday August 12th in a pre-season friendly event entitled ‘REUNITED 14’.

Manchester United stars were back in training at the club’s Carrington Training Complex today, including new signing Ander Herrera.

In transfer news, United vice-captain Patrice Evra nears closer to a move to Juventus.

Some reports suggest Evra is the subject of a £2 million offer from the Italian champions.

The Guardian reports the French fullback has asked to leave United after eight years at Old Trafford.

The Express linked United with a £16 million bid to land Wesley Sneijder from Galatasaray.

The Red Devils remain linked with Germany defender Mats Hummels who was the subject of speculation he could move for £20 million from Borussia Dortmund earlier this week.

Meanwhile, The Metro claims United have made a £7 million offer for Enzo Perez. Reports originating in A Bola suggest United are attempting to bring the Benfica midfielder to Old Trafford.

Elsewhere, United and Chelsea target Toni Kroos revealed he knows where he will be playing next season. The Germany midfielder has been linked with moves to United, Chelsea and Real Madrid in recent weeks and months.

He said: "I've made a decision and can't say. I read things. It's not hard to find out. But I'm saying there is nothing done.”

"First I want to play the World Cup and when finished my decision will be known. I’ll say it myself. Before then there is nothing. There’s one week of the World Cup left and then we'll know more."

Finally, reports suggest Netherlands fullback Daley Blind could come in to replace Patrice Evra as he is well known to the new boss through the Netherlands national team.
