South London latest: PSG forward at Millwall, Charlton complete fourth signing

Today's South London latest brings you all the biggest news from the past 24 hours surrounding Crystal Palace, Charlton Athletic and Millwall.

1) Paris Saint-Germain's Jean-Eudes Maurice on trial with Millwall

The 28-year-old attacker is reportedly with the Lions squad for pre-season training and could feature in an inter-squad friendly this weekend as Ian Holloway looks to boost his attacking options.

Maurice has been at PSG since 2008, but has only made 52 appearances in that time, and has been sent on loan to Lens and Le Mans before playing for the Ligue 1 champions reserve side last season.

The Haitian can play as a striker or on either wing and would give Millwall some extra firepower if he is able to impress during his trial at the club.

2) Lions hoping to sign Matt Smith from Leeds

Another attacker Millwall are tracking is Leeds' Matt Smith and the club are expected to make another bid for the 25-year-old after an initial offer was rejected.

Smith only has 12 months remaining on his current contract and Leeds may decide to cash-in on the striker who scored 12 goals in the Championship last season.

However, they may wait to bring in another forward having lost Ross McCormack to Fulham earlier this week but The Lions will want a deal wrapped up quickly.

3) Charlton confirm fourth summer signing

The Addicks have secured the signing of André Bikey-Amougou on a two-year deal in what is the clubs fourth signing of the summer.

The 29-year-old joins as a free-agent having impressed while on trial at the club and will hope to shore up the Charlton defence ahead of the new season.

Head coach Bob Peeters revealed his delight at the signing on the clubs official website: "He's got experience of this league and we're very happy to sign him.

"It's important for people like Joe Gomez and Harry Lennon to be working with someone with his experience - they can learn from him.

"His knowledge of the Championship will be very important."

4) Palace hoping to sign Chamakh on two-year contract

The Eagles are in talks with the Moroccan striker who was released at the end of the last campaign and are ready to offer him a two-year deal to stay in the Premier League.

The 30-year-old scored five times in 32 appearances for Palace last season and co-chairman Steve Parish has confirmed that they are trying to finalise a deal, as well as discussing contracts with some existing players.

"We’re very hopeful of agreeing terms with a couple of players, Marouane Chamakh is one of those who is out of contract at the moment.

“We’re hopeful on a couple of others at Palace who only have a year left, but we’re not overly concerned. I’m fine with that – if we can’t get an agreement on those two, we can’t get an agreement," Parish said.
