Louis Van Gaal's first opponents at Old Trafford announced

Manchester United will take on Spanish side Valencia on 12th August.

Following a pre-season tour in America which will see Manchester United take in games against Los Angelse Galaxy, Roma, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, the club will return home to play La Liga side Valencia.

In what will be Louis Van Gaal's first game at Old Trafford, United will take on the Spanish outfit on Tuesday12th August just four days before the opening game of the season. Van Gaal's Premier League debut is against Swansea City on 16th August also at Old Trafford.

Following The Netherlands impressive World Cup campaign, excitement is building has fans eagerly anticipate the new era at the club. Van Gaal's bold and brutal decisions at the World Cup have intrigued the United faithful and they are looking forward to seeing him in action.

It will also be an opportunity for Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera to step out onto the hallowed turf at Old Trafford for the first time. When the game with Valencia comes round there is likely to a few more faces at the club as well. With Van Gaal's last game as The Netherlands manager occurring on Saturday he will then have his complete focus on Manchester United, and things are likely to gather pace.

Valencia have also appointed a new manager for the forthcoming season; Nuno has joined the club after impressing in a two-year spell with Portuguese side Rio Ave.
