Former Gunner: Arsenal's new signings can win them the title

Former Arsenal midfielder Edu was part of the Invincibles team of the 2003-04 season.

Former Arsenal midfielder Edu believes that the imminent signings of Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy will help Arsenal win the Premier League next season.

The Gunners broke a nine-year trophy drought by winning the FA Cup last season, and Arsene Wenger's men will be looking to win their first Premier League title since 2004.

Edu was a part of that team, and he believes that if Wenger signs the duo from Barcelona and Newcastle they will improve upon their fourth-place finish from last season.

“Arsenal are still in my heart and I still follow Arsene Wenger. I have a big relationship with that club," the Brazilian told talkSPORT, "If they sign them [Sanchez and Debuchy] of course Arsene Wenger is very clever."

“Everybody knows he is good at signing players, particularly young ones, and they can give good things to Arsenal and make them better and stronger as they look to win the Premier League.”

Sanchez is widely expected to join from Barcelona this week after the two clubs reportedly agreed on a transfer fee in the region of £30 million.

The move was confirmed by an unlikely source - the Chilean forward's barber posted a farewell message on Facebook and wished him well at his new club.

Debuchy could also complete his £11 million move before the end of the week after undergoing a medical on Monday. Costa Rican forward Joel Campbell and English right-back Carl Jenkinson could be used as makeweights in the deal
