Interest from Liverpool and Arsenal in prolific Porto and Colombia striker may have cooled but player stresses he "does not know" what will happen.
“Right now, I don’t know what will happen,” renowned goal-scorer Jackson Martinez, a 27-year-old seemingly available for purchase on the summer market, said to Colombian radio station La FM.
He is, of course, contractually-bound to FC Porto - the club where he has made his name having returned 20 goals from 29 starts in the Liga Sagres, Portugal's premier division.
A 6ft 1in tall athlete weighing in at 12 stones (a perfectly proportioned super middleweight boxer), Martinez's physical traits lends itself to being adept at hold-up play, however, his delicate touch and general footwork belie his strength.
He is, after all, known by his nickname Cha Cha Cha and is able to strike with finesse, or with power, with his right foot, left foot or even his head.
It is no wonder Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool both reportedly expressed interest in the £26.4 million striker, who was also linked with Juventus.
It is still unclear where Martinez will be playing his football next season, though.
“I have two more years on my contract with Porto," he said. "There is interest from some clubs, something that is perfectly normal when a player is performing well, but I always have to take into account the fact I am under contract and I have to respect it.
“Only time will tell what will happen.”
