Matt Besler – Sporting Kansas City
Arguably the top centre-back in MLS since being drafted by Sporting KC in 2009, Besler previously turned down offers from QPR and Southampton in December 2012 to re-sign with his hometown club, but his performances for the USA this summer mean a move is almost certain to be on the cards.
The KC hierarchy admitting they face a tough time holding onto their captain, in light of ‘enormous interest’, the 27-year-old is already weighing up offers from the Premier League and the Bundesliga, according to his agent, with the German press reporting that SC Freiburg are one of the clubs.
Giancarlo Gonzalez – Columbus Crew
One of the standout players during Costa Rica’s astonishing run to the World Cup quarter-finals, Gonzalez only joined Columbus in January but could already be set for another move after his performances in recent weeks.
The 26-year-old centre-back was named to ESPN’s Best XI from the group stages and, with his strength, composure and ability to read the game, will have no doubt piqued the interest of teams in England.
Omar Gonzalez – LA Galaxy
Having attracted the interest of Premier League sides in late-2011, Gonzalez’s performances in the final two games of the USA’s World Cup campaign could see teams re-exploring the option of bringing him across the Atlantic.
A tall, all-round centre-back, who makes up for a lack of pace with his excellent positioning, the 25-year-old previously saw a loan spell with FC Nurnburg in early 2012 end after just one training session due to a torn ACL, but now could finally get the opportunity to show European football what he can do.
DeAndre Yedlin – Seattle Sounders
The 21-year-old has been a revelation in MLS since his 2013 rookie season, winning a place on Jurgen Klinsmann’s 23-man squad for Brazil after only making his national team debut a few months before.
Boasting blistering pace, an energetic substitute appearance in the last 16 defeat to Belgium saw the Seattle right-back earn widespread plaudits and fuelled speculation of a potential European move this summer, with Liverpool, Roma and Napoli all linked to his signature over the past week.
Graham Zusi – Sporting Kanas City
Widely considered one of the top all-round players in MLS over the past few seasons, Zusi is a versatile, all-action midfielder, who was Sporting KC’s talisman during their run to MLS Cup success in 2013
The 27-year-old was even on trial with West Ham United in January last year and, following a World Cup campaign in which he made three starts and one substitute appearance, could be poised for a permanent move sometime this summer.
