It may not contain the shock or wow factor that Chelsea's acquisition of Francesc Fabregas or the signing of Diego Costa enjoys but the Blues completed another deal today, Wednesday, as the club announced the arrival of 19-year-old midfielder Mario Pasalic, who has been likened to Luka Modric.
Pasalic has already been integrated into the first-team set-up at Cobham and is relishing the prospect of following in the footsteps of legendary Englishman Frank Lampard.
The player, who returned 11 goals from 36 games with Hadjuk Split last term, said: "I am very happy because I am now a Chelsea player. I am very impressed by the training ground and I must thank everybody at Hajduk. This is now a new start in my career.
"I am a central midfielder, my favourite player is Frank Lampard and so I am very happy to be a Chelsea player."
Another talented player for the future, Joao Filipe - a 15-year-old also coveted by Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United - has been heralded as a Cristiano Ronaldo incarnate. Chelsea are just one of a Premier League elite clamouring for his signature.
And finally, Pasalic is not the only midfielder Chelsea are interested as The Independent claim that the Stamford Bridge club are refocusing their efforts on luring Paul Pogba away from Juventus.
Fabregas and Costa fetched a combined £60 million and should the Blues want to seal a deal for Pogba, then that figure alone will have to be bid for the Frenchman.
