La Liga transfer latest: Atletico 'near' to €22m Mandzukic deal

All the latest summer transfer news from La Liga...

Atletico Madrid enjoyed a stunning season under Diego Simeone, clinching their first La Liga title in almost 20 years, whilst they also made the Champions League. Yet with that success comes interest in their players, and the club have already lost top scorer Diego Costa, with the 35-goal striker now on his way to Chelsea.

The club must now work hard to bring in a replacement for the Spanish international, and reports tonight suggest that they have almost wrapped up the signature of Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic. The Croatian has been a key part of Bayern's success in recent years, but the arrival of Robert Lewandowski and a reported bust-up with manager Pep Guardiola has pushed the 28-year-old towards the Allianz Arena exit door, with Atletico nearing a €22m deal for the Arsenal-linked striker.

Meanwhile, Barcelona's summer of rebuilding has already seen them snap up goalkeepers Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Claudio Bravo, as well as midfielder Ivan Rakitic. They seem poised to snap up Liverpool striker Luis Suarez this month, but they have eyes for another attacking player this summer.

Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado impressed at the World Cup with his speed down the right hand side, and speculation suggests that Barcelona are poised to lodge a €30m offer in a bid to bring the 26-year-old to the Camp Nou. Some reports believe that Cuadrado could be played at right back as a replacement for Dani Alves, but that wouldn't be the best use of him.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has long been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital, and whilst Arsenal had been suggested as his main suitors, it's Serie A giants Juventus who are pushing ahead with a deal to snap up the young forward. There is still a disagreement over a fee for the 21-year-old, but reports suggest that a deal is moving closer.
