A selection of the latest stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Tuesday morning

Liverpool have given up on signing Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez according to the Liverpool Echo, with other newspapers reporting a similar story. The Chilean star said to be on his way to Arsenal.

The report says that officials at the club weren't able to convince to the 25-year-old to move to Anfield, meaning the deal that takes Luis Suarez to the Nou Camp is going to be a £75 million cash deal.

The only thing seemingly holding up Suarez's move to La Liga is the structure of the deal with the Daily Mail reporting that Barcelona are hoping to make the payment in stages, and based on performance. After that is agreed, all that will seemingly need to be done is a medical examination. With Barcelona already advertising Suarez shirts, the deal looks set to be completed in the very near future.

The Echo has also reported that Liverpool are now close to wrapping up a £25 million deal for 20-year-old Benfica winger Lazar Markovic, with the Serbian national coach seemingly backing a move for one of his starts to Anfield.

Ljubinko Drulovic said: “Going to a very strong league will help him even more to become a major player worldwide.

“He's 20 years old and has a long time to play. Markovic could prove to become a very important player in Europe.”

The Daily Mail is also reporting that Lucas Leiva is a transfer target for Serie A side Inter Milan.

The Brazilian could find his opportunities at Anfield limited next season given that the Reds have signed Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen during this summer's transfer window, having already faced fierce competition in midfield from Steven Gerrard, Joe Allen and Jordan Henderson.
