Carragher: Reds can win title but aren't favourites, Man United a threat

The former Liverpool defender answered questions in a twitter Q&A #AskCarra, where he discussed title favourites, teams who can be a threat, new signings and Luis Suarez.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said that Liverpool can win the Premier League next season, even without Luis Suarez, but says that Manchester City and Chelsea are the big favourites.

However, the Reds' second highest appearance holder did say that his old side will find it difficult without the Uruguayan striker, who scored 31 goals in the Premier League last season as the Reds just missed out on the title to Manchester City.

In a twitter Q&A, where he also revealed that Steven Gerrard was the most inspirational player he played with and Thierry Henry was the best player he had played against, Liverpool's former number 23 said: 


Carragher also added that he sees Manchester United as a threat under Louis van Gaal, especially with no European football to contend with, after a disappointing campaign under David Moyes last season where they finished in seventh place. 

With Liverpool on the lookout for new players in order to challenge for the Premier League title again, as well as trying to compete in the Premier League this season, Carragher suggested Liverpool should target 21-year-old Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.


Liverpool have so far made three signings in the transfer window this summer. One of them is central midfielder Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen, who has taken Carragher's old shirt number 23. The former defender had this to say on the £9.8 million arrival:
