Defender’s agent ‘optimistic’ at chances of Leeds switch

The agent of Sassuolo defender Jonathan Rossini has indicated that he is 'optimistic' his client could sign for Leeds United.

Leeds United are reportedly trying to sign Sassuolo defender Jonathan Rossini and the player's representative is confident a move could be done.

Massimo Cellino and his transfer guru Nicola Salerno are making full use of their contacts in Italian football as they rebuild Leeds United's squad.

The latest name to be linked with an Elland Road switch is Swiss international stopper Rossini, who is owned by Sassuolo but spent the second half of last season on loan to Parma.

The player's agent Carlo Pallavicino took to Twitter to assert: "Rossini-Leeds: Optimistic" yesterday evening, suggesting that talks between Sassuolo and Leeds are progressing.

Rossini was a star for Switzerland's Under-21 side and made 23 appearances for them between 2008 and 2011.

Now 25, the former Sampdoria defender hasn't broken into the senior Swiss side since making his full debut against Uruguay in March 2010.

Rossini hardly featured for Parma after arriving on loan in January and only made six Serie A outings for Sassuolo prior to that in 2013-14.

However, Rossini's promise is clear and at this stage in his career he will be determined to find a club where he can play regular first-team football.
