Swansea City are closing in on a deal to bring Celtic star Virgil Van Dijk to the Liberty Stadium, according to the Daily Mail.

The Swans will offer Celtic around £6 million for the centre-back, who established himself as one of the Bhoys’ finest players last season.

Swansea are reportedly looking to offload Chico Flores and feel that Van Dijk is the ideal replacement at the heart of their defence.

2) Scott Brown could be ruled out of Champions League qualifier

Celtic captain, Scott Brown, will undergo a scan this week to decide whether or not he will be available for selection for their Champions League qualification match against KR Reykjavik on July 15.

The energetic central midfielder was stretchered off after picking up a hamstring injury in Celtic’s pre-season friendly against Rapid Vienna.

Celtic manager, Ronny Deila, was naturally concerned after the match, and wished his captain a speedy recovery, saying: “We think it is a hamstring but we don't know yet how severe it is.

"Hopefully it's not big and he will be back quickly. He will have a scan and we will see what happens."

3) Marius Zaliukas set for Rangers move

Former Leeds United centre-back Marius Zaliukas is set to become Rangers’ fourth-singing of the summer, after impressing on a trial period at the club.

Ally McCoist has been looking to bring in a centre-back as his side look to achieve promotion once again this season, and appears to have indentified Zaliukas as his first-choice target.

The 30-year-old is a free agent, having seen his contract at Elland Road expire last season, and played 45 minutes of Rangers’ most recent friendly match against Brora Rangers where he impressed.

"Marius's fitness is good,” the Light Blues assistant manager, Kenny McDowall, said. “He was right up for it yesterday and was keen to play and be involved. We have obviously been delighted to have him."

4) Lee Wallace backs Kris Boyd to be a success

Lee Wallace has backed Kris Boyd to be a hit in his second spell at Ibrox, after the veteran frontman scored in Rangers’ friendly against Brora Rangers yesterday.

Boyd came off the bench in the second-half to level the score at 1-1, and Wallace believes that this goal is a sign of things to come this season.

He came on against Brora though and scored quickly which was brilliant for everyone to see. Now he’ll go from strength to strength,” Wallace told Rangers’ official website.

“I’ve seen him in training over the last few days since he joined us after coming out of rehab and seeing his finishing first hand is something else.

“Kris loves the club and after having his time away and being a legend in the past who was highly successful, he’s hoping to do well again.”

Boyd scored 101 times in 143 apperances for the Gers in his first stint at the club between the years of 2006 and 2010.

5) Hull City interested in Andrew Robertson

Hull City are hoping to secure a deal for Dundee United star Andrew Robertson and will lodge a £3 million bid in the near future, according to the Daily Record.

Steve Bruce is known to be hunting for a centre-back and has been chasing Sheffield United’s Harry Maguire all summer, but the League One club’s reluctance appears to have forced him to look elsewhere – with Robertson next in his list of targets.

The 20-year-old was a mainstay in Dundee United’s first-team last season and he has established a reputation for himself as one of the finest players in Scotland, after a series of impressive performances.
