1) Stoke City want Ronaldinho
Stoke City are trying to sign Brazilian legend in what may be one of the most spectacular transfers of the summer, according to the Sentinel.
Ronaldinho is not quite the player he once was in his prime, but he would still bring some real swagger and skill to the Brittania and create a buzz around the club if he was to join.
The 34-year-old is currently playing his football in his native country for Atletico Mineiro, but Mark Hughes is reportedly trying to convince him to come to the Premier League this summer.
2) West Brom want Aston Villa’s Alan Hutton
West Bromwich Albion are set to launch an attempt to sign Aston Villa’s Alan Hutton, as new boss Alan Irvine looks to add players to his squad for the upcoming season.
Hutton has found his first team chances limited at Villa Park in recent times and is known to be available for transfer, with West Brom hoping he can fill their void at right-back after Billy Jones’ departure.
If he is to join Baggies he will have to take a sizable pay-cut as they are not prepared to match his £40,000-a-week wages, which he is currently on.
3) Chris Baird completes West Brom switch
Chris Baird has been announced as West Bromwich Albion’s third signing of the summer today, but it has created a mixed reaction from the club’s supporters.
Baird is an experienced and versatile defender, who joins on a free transfer after his deal at Fulham expired at the end of the season, but Baggies fans were hoping for a more high-profile name.
Here are some Baggies fans tweets reacting the news that the 32-year-old was joining the club.
Chris Baird, yet another "solid pro", on a free, in his 30's, on a 12 month deal. Seriously, have we learned nothing? Another plodder!! #wba— Lloydy. (@lloydy_) July 7, 2014
4) Wolves linked with three strikers
Wolverhampton Wanderers are seeking to add a striker to their squad, after missing out on Callum Wilson.
Wilson was Kenny Jackett’s top target this summer, but the club were not prepared to match Bournemouth’s £3 million offer that the Cherries offered Coventry.
Since the prolific front-man has agreed to make that deal permanent, signing a 4-year-contract with the Championship side, and it means that Wolves are now looking elsewhere for attacking additions.
Jackett is thought to have presented a three-man shortlist of players he would like to sign to solve his goalscoring problem – with Joe Garner, Lukas Jutkiewicz and Danny Graham all on the wishlist.
5) Leicester City’s Paul Gallagher rejoins Preston
Paul Gallagher has re-joined Preston on a season-long loan after being allowed to leave Leicester City by Nigel Pearson.
Gallagher spent the majority of last campaign on loan at PNE, as they failed to achieve promotion through the play-offs, and he is back for a second attempt at getting the club back to the Championship.
The 29-year-old made 35 appearances for Preston last season, scoring 10 goals.
